Another Angle on Learning Photography

Leanne Cole (http://blog.leannecole.com.au/?p=178) spoke recently about the influence of the artist Edward Hopper on her work. It made me think.
Photographers can learn a lot from paintings and sculpture, about lighting, composition, posing, perspective, impact, and subject matter.
Old Masters can help you develop techniques, and how individual artistic styles evolve and usually keep evolving.
Photography can be an art form where anything goes, or it can be constrained by desire to capture reality; regardless grounding in other art forms can help.
By all means turn to photography magazines and web sites for technical issues but for inspiration nothing beats a museum.

Inspiration is all around us — eyes wide open!
