Camera phones means having a camera everywhere you go.
The implications of the growth in digital photography and the ease of sharing photographs are slowly becoming clear.
It has made some news organizations lazy and worse they are practicing double standards at the expense of others. They will happily accept your photos for no credit and no notice whether they are or will be published. It adds to their bottom line and they save money not having to hire as many professional photographers. A few people have been at the right place at the right time, have taken the picture, got an agent and been reimbursed handsomely.
Like contests where the organizers own all rights in perpetuity to your work whether you win or lose, somebody is being taken advantage of. It’s like working for free on the promise of more work, or charging too little, it is a hard habit to break for you or your “employer”.
Don’t sell yourself short and don’t let others sell you short or take advantage of you. It’s not worth it.

A loud round of applause that lasts 10 minutes.
It is effecting all the arts – I believe most people think artists, whatever media they chose, live on fresh air.
From a very airy artist.
