I am always reminding myself to look at things from different perspectives, it is amazing what you see. This is as true for history as for photography, everything benefits from a different perspective. In this case the flowers take on an entirely different feel depending on the perspective you choose. See below.
Sometimes we see something and we fixate on the perspective that caught our attention. If we do not try another perspective, how do we know that this first impression best captures our subject or for that matter our vision of our subject.
In this example I had seen a number of photographs of flowers taken from below and wanted to try that approach. It’s a bit challenging for perfectionists. The range of light can be challenging, leading to blown out highlights in the photograph and shooting blue sky puts a focus on all those dust bunnies on your sensor!
The second photograph, while painterly is actually pretty much out of the camera, it is just a special mix of depth of field, and a touch of over exposure.
Hopefully this will encourage others to try unusual angles.
