Beard, the Natural Beard

It’s Goat’s Beard to be exact. My interest in flowers has been mostly rooted in understanding which animals like what greenery. That is changing as I see an increasing number of compositional possibilities every time I walk in the nature reserves.
It was the symmetry of what remained of the Goat’s Beard that caught my eye. Taking a frontal view, framed by the grasses on either side made it seem like a centerpiece. The lighting was perfect, but the depth of field posed a challenge, either that extra stalk was out of focus or the background was in focus. I chose background over focused stalk. I suppose I could have moved that stalk out of the way, but it did not seem right.
I took some time in post to get the exposure right and to make sure that none of the details of the “beard” were lost.
