The Stone Moves

I keep asking experts what the best way is to find insect subjects. I’ve been told to get a net, find the plants specific insects like etc. None of the solutions so far are easy or palatable. So my approach is to take advantage of the innate ability in humans (especially my Bug Lady) to notice movement and out-of-place detail.
The Spittlebug above is about 6mm long, from a distance looks like a moving stone and is remarkable enough to catch your eye. Despite its dapper good looks this bug is widely considered a pest. Its defence against having its picture taken is to turn annoyingly away.
