We capture notable moments be they historic, personal or corporate in photographs. We also use our cameras to catch that personal view of the world that perspective unique to us. In the latter case it’s a bit like hunting. We go looking for something that catches our eye, we hunt it down, our eye sharpened for the contrast, color, form etc. we like. The analogy of the hunt may be uncomfortable especially for nature shooters but like birder’s lists we have our prized captures.
With camera phones increasing pervasiveness we see can see how global trends affect styles of photography, how people try to differentiate their style of photography and an increasing variety of views on quality.
The ubiquitous camera and the types of photography have many implications but one thing will not change. The need for thinking about what is in the frame and why someone, anyone else would look at it.
