A Variety of Expressions (four photographs)

I am a big fan of animal portraits. In the span of a few moments the range of expressions and postures can change dramatically and unlike a model we cannot really influence the results. This particular Canada Goose was sitting on a post just off a small bridge watching the people go by when I swung my lens around towards it and it became animated. There was none of the usual hissing but a range of expressions and postures, until it settled down to sleep. In photography we hear a lot about the need for patience. I would argue that some is required but more importantly the key is focusing on the subject and getting engaged with it.
