Fight or an Argument

There was quite a commotion and it was unclear the intention of the two ducks – were they contesting a mate, arguing over food or just having a tiff. It was certainly not clear to any of the bystanders like me. Few of the shots worked because of the depth of field and the speed of the shutter but this one did. It was the one that suggested they had come to an amicable agreement.
It seems like they are cuddling rather than fighting indeed! It is always fun to go to the park and get to see these scenes 🙂
God photo!
Kind regards, Tieme

Like another reader, my first thought when I saw this beautiful image was that they were snuggling and it was only when I read your description of the action that preceded the shot that I realized that my initial assumption was incorrect. It’s amazing how a single image can lead to such different interpretations, depending on a whole range of factors. The close interaction of the two ducks really makes this image, but the other elements, like the swirls and patterns of the water work well to enhance the impact of the shot.

You get to chose the moment you capture. The peace process/snuggle seemed best.

I actually think love is the answer(accidentally borrowed from the John Lennon) . I believe that to be a male and a female … and it is spring, not sure where you are or if they mate in your area.

This was taken in the fall. Sorry to disappoint John.

Mallards are violent lovers and the drake often almost drowns the female. Looks like rape to me 🙂

I have photographs of that from this spring. This was taken in the fall do they mate late in the year? Neither ended up under water they just chased each other around.

It looks amorous except for the churning water! Love the colors.

This photo represent perspective and assumptions. The beautiful ducks look like they are snuggling but then I read you comments. Interesting that this is the shot that you got and chose to share. I really enjoyed this
