Rising Star (Two Photographs)

It’s not a dance, it’s the duck shaking off the cold water. The deeper we got into fall, the more I saw this behavior. It makes for great movement in the frame and it’s a bit artsy, if not funny. The only trick here is to have the speed and aperture to capture the parts of the duck that are not moving while staying at or below the point where your shutter speed will stop the movement in the wings.

  3. Sweet. Even slower shutter speed (I suppose on a mono/tripod) could abstract the birds movements even more 🙂 best case from a straight 90 degrees angle. Hard to control those birds, though 😀
