I often see squirrels climb on top of rocks, tree stumps etc. when begging for handouts. I suspect they know this makes them stand out, however, it also makes them vulnerable to predators. This stance also means that if you approach them they will run off. If you stand your ground and take their picture, they almost certainly will come to you, leaving little time for second shots.

    • No end of people feeding them. Though this week they are very much hunting for themselves and not begging.
