Sparrows (Two Photographs)

Someone commented on one of my photographs that it was nice not to see a bird on a tree branch. I could sympathize with this if it were not for the fact that birds are naturally in flight, on a branch or on the ground. Even more frustrating they tend to position themselves the wrong way and just as you get them in focus they fly off. This is the reality of bird photography and why it’s a wonderful challenge.

  1. Beautiful photos, but is that not a Female red-winged Blackbird? http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/PHOTO/LARGE/red_winged_blackbird_9.jpg

  4. A Really Small Farm

I saw a sparrow this morning very much like this one (no idea as to species) on a fence rail so seeing your photo was a nice surprise

Like the blue colors of the spruce needles.

  5. Sparrows are normally ground-oriented, so having the blue-hued branch is wonderful. Great photo.
