Great Blue Heron

It would not be summer without the Great Blue Herons. There have been fewer than normal this year; and this was one of the first, standing on a beaver lodge. I am not sure why we have not seen as many, it may have to do with the weather (a slow start to the summer with moderately high water levels). Everyone we meet in the reserve is looking forward to the return of the herons in numbers. In post processing I could have removed some of the sticks around the bird, but on reflection I do not find them all that distracting.

Incredible! I’ve never seen that bird before, it is quite beautiful, and you have quite the talent! Great photo, thanks for sharing it.

Sorry, that was probably because I usually put my blog on every comment. Great blog you have though! And thanks for responding.
