Cropping Challenges (Two Photographs)

The full panorama shot in my view has impact, and while busy is interesting. However, it’s not in a standard format like 8.5 x 11, it’s as shot with an aspect ratio of 35mm film.
The second shot is 8.5 x 11, the format standard for frames (and my usual format for that reason). Given the subject there is more than one crop that would work. Blogs and on-line forums can restrict the formats/aspect ratios we can use, but is worthwhile to think about how different crops and aspect ratios can lead to interesting results.
I must say I like the close-up shot of the bottom best, but that’s a hard decision. I agree – you could make many photos as of this by cropping it different ways.

That was my choice as best crop, but I thought the scene was cool. Thanks

You have about 4 different crops by my calculations… Great multi-capture!

Excellent advice. I’ve also been told to look closely at one’s image because you might have more than one image. It’s how you crop that can lead to that result.
