Great Blue Heron (Two Photographs)

In general, herons were scarce this year. They are amazing creatures with huge wingspans. The heron’s stealth, patience and speed are incredible when fishing. However, sometimes they do get scared off or change their mind about their choice of location and off they go. This heron never actually got a fish instead it left the scene. These photos show two things that have impressed me about these birds, their patience in fishing and their silly little ponytail. These are large birds with a great presence.
Gorgeous

Beautiful bird, except they are the scourge of my koi pond!

Thanks. It seems I photograph a lot of pests, but I photograph them away from where they cause trouble:)

Love these images, Victor. So clear and the lighting is perfect, probably the best I’ve ever seen!

Always been one of my favourite birds, even if they do strut around in a pompous manner! Great images 🙂

I agree, they have a great presence. In the top image you’ve really caught how elegant they are.
