Grasshoppers (Two Photographs)

Grasshoppers, unlike crickets, jump once and then hide. If you follow their flight they are easy to spot and hopefully to photograph. As you walk along paths in meadows and fields grasshoppers will react to your presence and make that one hop, they will then hide behind stalks or simply stare back at you. I wanted to show how colorful these creatures are, how good their camouflage can be. Given that they are relatively large insects (these are short-horned grasshoppers), they are good for practicing close-up photography, before going on to even smaller creatures.
