Taking Things for Granted (two Photographs)

When I take a few days off I find it takes time to get back the instincts and mechanical memory to operate the camera optimally for outdoor nature photography. Every lighting situation requires a different metering option: spot or matrix, exposure compensation etc. So as the weather gets a bit rough and the intervals between shooting increase, it takes an effort to get things just right in camera. This does not just mean less time in front of the computer it means less disappointment with the results. When the pictures here were taken it was a cloudy day. The light was flat. What sky there was, was reflected in the water. Given the time of year the water was messy and dirty and there is only so much you can do about that. You have to hope your subject rises above the challenge.

  1. How interesting that you posted this. The other day once my computer was back up after being off for a week my mechanical memory to edit in LR was sluggish!
