Sculpture (Form and Shape)

Light is the most important element of photography, (the etymology of the word is drawing with light) followed by composition and color (including black and white). Photographers worry a lot about light, composition and color (hue, saturation, and luminance). When you shoot intimate elements of the landscape: the street, groups of people and architecture etc., composition also involves the shape and form those subjects take. Sometimes it is useful to think in terms of form and shape in the decision to shoot, compose and/or crop. Doing this makes us think less about photographic rules and guidelines and more about the nature of what we see, be it natural or unusual. I took this photograph because the form caught my eye, the color only framed the form of the log.
