The Mischievous White Throated Sparrow (Five Photographs)

This fellow seemed to get angry that I had spotted it eating a berry and then suddenly it became contrite. In Lightroom I fixed the exposure, shadows, highlights, etc. in the first photograph then copied the changes to the other shots with minor tweaks. Being able to copy processing settings from one photo and apply them to other photos in a series is one of the best tools in Lightroom. In Photoshop I applied Macphun’s Noiseless CK, used smart sharpen, and Nik Color EFX Pro detail extractor (the latter being, the most time-consuming element of the processing as I wanted to target the bird’s many details and tones).

Those are some great photos! I really should learn how to use photoshop or lightroom for some post processing.

  5. This series really expresses the personality of the bird through movement – great details of head and feathers.
