Wood Ducks (Four Photographs)

The female duck has yellow eyes and the male out of his courting colors, is the one with the red eyes. These are not rare ducks. However, they are a favorite subject of photographers when the males are in full color. More importantly they seem accustomed to people, probably because they get fed. In these photographs I tried to catch the ducks when they were unaware of my presence and in interesting surroundings.

  1. Interesting how you captured the mirror image upon the water in the two shots.

  3. I absolutely love these ducks! One of my favorite species. And that first shot of the hen sort of peeking at you is STUNNING. Truly captures the personality of the breed.

  4. I love studying the feather detail on the female closeups, something I’d never get to do otherwise. Thanks!

  5. Victor very nice. I particularly like how you’ve caught the light in the eyes of the ducks.
