Chickadees (Three Photographs)

You can expect chickadees to fly straight at you and veer away at the last possible second. They might circle around your head or land on your lens hood, begging for food. The one thing you cannot count on them doing is staying still for their portrait. More often than not these birds are in search of another roost, usually one in the underbrush. People stand around for hours to feed them out of their hands (an entertainment I have yet to understand). As photographic subjects they tend to be challenging because of their impatience.

  4. I too find chicadee’s a challenge to photograph. They don’t stay a few seconds in one spot and off they go.

  5. They are a delightful bird. You’ve managed to get a couple of good ones, my favorite is head on, it shows whimsey.
