Some Thoughts on Landscapes

I have been reading quite a bit on landscapes lately in the hope that by the time this post is published winter will be gone and we will be back to warm and sunny days where I can do some landscape photography. I took this photograph back in October. In processing this photograph I modestly darkened the sky (lowered the highlights) and brightened the nearest shoreline. I am beginning to picture some of the things I want to take, and this photo has many of those elements. These include a range of lighting patterns, shapes and form that draw the eye in (leading lines), and contrast and color to flavor the shot. The areas I want to concentrate on are shapes and forms and varied lighting, one of my projects for this year.
Beautiful sky Vikcor. I’m always attracted to a well resolved sky.

This is an interesting shot – almost like two photos in one fitting together.

Do you see it? The dark L shaped left and the upper right cube? It looked like a puzzle.

I just started playing with luminosity masks in Photoshop to assist in that sort of thing.
