These are among my favorite birds. They are large, relatively easy to photograph and are usually posed well or doing something interesting. This series is one where I was able to follow the bird and get some interesting shots, happily in focus. The plume indicates that it is mating season (these were taken in the summer of 2015).

    Night Herons are cool. I was in a park watching one hunt salamanders one time. That thing was ruthless!
