The Close-up World

I am increasingly interested in close-up/macro photography. I tried going to 1:1 and beyond with bellows but I found the staging and complexity of the indoor set-up not as interesting or satisfying as taking shots in nature. In many cases small insects, while a focus of the photograph, shine in front of interesting abstract backgrounds. Here we have a portrait/face-on of a hover fly doing its bit for pollination against a background that I find very appealing, and even if I tried I doubt I could replicate it in a studio.

  3. Great angle of view, Victor. I love the kind of head-on shot that you captured so wonderfully.
