Bay-crested Warbler (Two Photographs)

With a heavy lens handheld shooting warblers is hard work. You cannot move as fast to another location with a tripod as you can with your feet and still keep the bird in sight so I tend to leave my tripod at home. This bird was very good at hiding or placing itself against very distracting  backgrounds or foregrounds. I was lucky to come away with two workable shots out of about 50 shots taken. These warblers sing a lovely song and when hidden they seem to be teasing photographers who cannot find them.

  3. Particulary like the nestled background of the first shot. It nicely frames the bird.

  4. Wonderful shots. I don’t know why it is officially called a Bay-breasted Warbler it should be named a Bay-crested Warbler because that is what it has

    • Thanks, they are actually bay breasted warblers. They are migratory birds, come through twice a year for a short period.
