Imagine if you will… (Seven Photographs)

Sometimes you cannot get an image out of your mind and the more you think about it the more nagging it becomes. On a path we have walked more often than normal I came across some new ferns just unraveling. My first attempt at capturing them was hindered by an error on my part, my camera being set to take JPEG and not Raw files. But I went back several times and these images are the result. Now this is not Monet’s Water Lilies, but some artistic judgments were made. The ferns were already monochrome and going black and white was always a possibility but I decided to keep the color. Like all plants, the wind and spiders had adorned them making for some detritus, and I decided to leave most of it alone to maintain realism. And yes not everything is in focus, the mind can fill in the blanks. I am sure that not everyone will agree with my judgments and they may not like the results. But imagine a world where we all agreed and there were no decisions to make, no new ideas. To paraphrase Shaw, the world depends on people who take a second look at the norms.
