Preening and Posing (Seven Photographs)

I would never have seen this bird but for a fellow photographer calling me over. At first it preened and then it posed. The light was great, almost a spotlight, though it shifted over time. The long white feathers that drape down its back indicate that the bird is is ready to breed. A very cooperative bird not that far off the path. The sharing of locations and pointers has helped me and I have done the same for others. It never hurts to ask, strangers approach me all the time asking questions about the location and animals and not just about what I am shooting.
One of the best birds to photo 🙂 Always seems to pose pretty. Very nice.

Very nice series. It’s always fun shooting when everything lines up plus you have the added luxury of taking your time to photograph a wild animal.

Probably….and also I’m outside on our deck under an umbrella. Not the best for viewing pictures.

Very nice shots. You are right about photographers sharing information about locations and the kind of wildlife to be found there.
