A New Approach (7 Photographs)

I ordered a Fuji XT-2 and since September 9th have been experimenting with it. I bought the 18, 35, and 90mm lenses to duplicate my first SLR gear from when I started photography (28mm, 50mm, 135mm). I have long looked for a camera I could easily carry around with me every day, and while the camera is by no means light it is certainly lighter than my Nikon gear. In the past I tried the Nikon V2, and Olympus OMD-5. The Fuji is the first mirror-less that I am comfortable with (a few issues but nothing dramatic). I also wanted a camera I could shoot in black and white. While Lightroom removes the color profile when you import, it’s easily re-instated. The best camera is the one you have with you and the Fuji meets my needs. I was worried about processing the XTRANS files (given what I had read on the web) but the results out of Lightroom, Photoshop and Macphun, have worked well. The photos here are from a couple of excursions with the XT-2 and reflect the kinds of street photography I hope to do over the long-term (when I am not out hunting for subjects in nature with my Nikon gear).

Seems your gear works in reverse to mine I shoot b & w RAW that gets returned to colour in Capture 1.

On my Fuji I shoot B&W, goes to color in Lightroom, I add the film style back for B&W. With Nikon I shot in color choose which to edit in B&W.

Having enough time is always the issue. Less sleep? Maybe. I heard that we sleep 25 years in our lifetime. Think of having an extra year of time to be awake. Then again it might result in a shorter life. Enough – to more productive things. haha!

I love my mirrorless. I find myself using it more than my Nikon. It’s so handy when walking a lot!

Last night I went with my Nikon and I will admit I really enjoy that camera in low light situations much better.

These are fabulous, Victor. I particularly like the bottom image with the wonderful arched window and detailed masonary. The light and the shadow of a tree is just perfect. Nice to see you doing something different.

This is great stuff. I use Nikon, but I recently bought a Fuji X70 which is brilliant, although being a fixed lens sometimes I do wish I had a bit of zoom. But it was a great purchase. Have fun with the X-T2

Very nice. After awhile you can get stale, in a rut. Look forward to more like this.
I have considered a mirrorless for out and about but not acted on it. My light camera is a Canon 70D, which while not light compared to the normal gear is easier to carry.

:), you did move it forward! nice shots, victor, very different from your nature stuff. look forward to seeing more street from you. imo, fuji files work very well in LR v5.0 on, no sweat, so well, i have not touched photo ninja in a long while.

These images have a totally different feel from your nature photography shots, Victor, and it is really cool to see the results of your initial experimentation with the new gear. There seems to be a kind of pressure on photographers to specialize in a single area of photography and it is refreshing to see that you don’t have to choose either street photography or wildlife photography–your example shows that it is possible to do both and to do them well

It had several virtues, but every time I went out some stetting had changed.it was just not for me. I used it for several months, got a few good shots but only after battling with settings.
