Eastern Phoebe (Three Photographs)

This Phoebe was a most accommodating subject. What struck me in addition to its cooperation was the background. My aim was for the bird to stand out against an interesting background. By darkening it slightly and brightening the bird marginally, I believe I achieved this. This was done in Photoshop with masks created with the PS magic wand because my other tools were not selecting the bird very well. Then it was just a matter of inverting that mask and lowering the brightness. A radial dial adjustment was used to brighten the bird’s head in Lightroom.

  9. Those pretty eyes. Little angle. Green background with the main subject bird is interesting as a whole pic. Bird and branch look neat. Nice capture.

  10. Can’t imagine the world without the gorgeous birds! That’s why they say ‘shoot birds and animals but only with cameras’! Even I just posted some lovely pics from my birding trip to the Nilgiris, which you’ll surely like! 🙂
