Doorways and Architecture (Five Photographs)

Doors have a natural allure, we wonder about what is on the other side and psychologically thresholds have an impact; they change our perspective. I recall when the poster Doors of Dublin came out in 1970, quite apart from its touristic draw, it became iconic and led to many other similar efforts around the world. However, the poster was a series of tightly focused straight on shots of doors, the only context being the title of the poster. Doors are pieces of the whole; an element of architecture and sometimes just a little more context heightens the impact and perhaps our interest. I have decided to do this series in B&W to highlight the details, rather than distract with color. Photographed with the Fuji XT-2. I am not alone in this interest, Norm 2.0 on WordPress organizes a post every Thursday on doors: https://miscellaneousmusingsofamiddleagedmind.wordpress.com/2016/10/13/thursday-doors-october-13-2016/

  9. I love how the way you describe doors changing our perspective since it’s a threshold into something new and unknown. Its exactly the kind of thing i would write about on my blog. Nice pictures too!
