Red Squirrel Versus Grey Squirrel (Three Photographs)

I saw this red squirrel and thought he would make a great subject, and then I noticed he was a bit annoyed by a larger grey squirrel (eastern greys are black or grey) who was monopolizing some seeds thrown down by passersby. He made some noise and lunges but the grey never moved off the cache. I have seen many reds chasing larger greys but never this sort of confrontation.

  2. Usually I do see the reds, with their big attitudes, chase off anything that stands between them and what they want. This gray one is ballsy!

  3. Wow, that gray squirrel is really dark. I’ve noticed a difference in coloring between squirrels in different areas, but I don’t think I’ve seen one quite so charcoally before.
