Cardinal Taking a Bath (Three Photographs)

I took  several photographs of this scene. It occurred suddenly and I was not aware I was under-exposing the shots. This is typical when an opportunity comes up when I am not as ready as I should be. Fortunately shooting RAW files provides significant latitude to rescue shots from errors like this.

  2. Wow, I really like this, I like how the colours are bright yet at the same time not fully saturated. I had a male cardinal feeding at our birdfeeder a few days ago, It really stood out against the white snow.

  6. Great series of shots. Love the expression and reflection in the first and the way you captured the second shot. I have found the cardinal to be one of the most difficult birds to photograph between the coloring and sharpness.

  8. Great shots. I can’t tell they were underexposed to start with.

  11. Birds always look like they’re having so much fun when they bathe. I always enjoy watching them! 🙂 The red in its plumage stands out so well, even wet. Cool looking reflections as well. Wonderful capture, Victor!
