Flicker (Three Photographs) and a word about ISO

One can get a little tired of seeing great photographic opportunities in the dark forest and struggling to get good shots at high ISOs. The camera makers promise less noise at higher ISOs but it’s not the case. The two photos of the flicker on the ground were taken at 4000 ISO, and while I like the photos very much, there is no way to remove all the noise without losing a lot of the detail, a compromise must be made. That compromise leaves some of the noise and most of the detail in the bird. The possibility of taking photos under low-light circumstances raises another issue of deciding whether to use the Auto ISO feature that is on most DSLR and Mirror-less cameras; a subject for one of my up coming posts.
