Northern Shoveler (Seven Photographs)

We had heard about a different kind of duck in the reserve with very interesting coloring and beak. People told us that a Northern Shoveler had been seen, but we could not find it. Then one day we decided to walk by the deepest swamp in the reserve, and there we saw a male Shoveler mixing in with some American Wigeons. We went back three times to see the duck. That part of the swamp has many obstacles and our Shoveler was not helpful in staying in open water. Moreover its head was under water more often than above. On the third day things went much better and the duck, which kept a wary eye on us, posed a little more reasonably. I cannot say the same for the lighting, which was constantly changing.
