Waxwing (Three Photographs)

It’s only normal that many birds are found in back-lit situations or are posed in such a way that the sun does not capture their face. Waxwings’ eyes are hard enough to see at the best of times, and the feathers’ wax sometimes makes for less detail. Nonetheless these are magnificent birds reminding me of Bauhaus minimalism. In the color versions I did nothing to the background, the paintbrush effect is natural. Because of the shape and shadow I figured one of the poses would look good in B&W.

  1. The details of the waxwing definitely stand out more in the b/w photo. The eye is visible also. Wonderful captures, Victor. ❤
