Yesterday I talked about composition and the rule of thirds, the main objective of composition is pointing your viewers’ eyes at the main subject. But there are many ways of highlighting a subject: putting more light on it, having leading lines that point to your subject, using the rule of thirds or other composition rules, vignetting (darkening the area around the subject so the subject stand out because it it is brighter – almost the same as shining a spotlight on your subject). Here I gave the subject more lightand more detail, but I centred the Lily because it balanced the Lily pads around it, and was the most pleasing composition I could envision.
