Brutal Urban Landscape (Two Photographs)

These are somewhat abstract but the subject is brutal urban landscape or just plain brutalism, with just a hint of the natural. How they sell this architecture is sometimes confounding, though I am sure it helps with snow removal. My take on the scene was to make use of the lines and shadows, it was a way I thought that would make this scene interesting.

  1. Here they sell cheap concrete laying as trendy minimalism or so, even in historical places, which in Italy are everywhere, with phrases like “smart integration between historical and modern” or “international taste”. Sometimes they embellish it with cheap coloured, supposedly humorous objects. Sorry for not so smart english.

    • Such a pity. I lived in Rome and Milan.

      • So you probably noticed some example of that. I love both towns and hope they don’t completely sell their identity.

        • I lived there many years ago, but on my visits noticed the modern creeping in.

          • I’m ok with modern, but sometimes they say modern not to say ugly, cheap and inappropriate.

  2. I always feel badly for the stressed out trees in all that pavement. The lines and shadows do make for an interesting photo, however.

  3. Brutal yes. A good line abstract though. Love the hint of nature.
