A Determined Youngster (Five Photographs)

We found this young Green Heron by a bridge. We returned a few days in a row to see it in the water, up a tree and walking around. To get the colors right I had to adjust the contrast on the bird itself, otherwise I had the issue of either the bird or its surroundings being well exposed but not both. Selective editing takes longer but the results really help in situations like this.
Fantastic captures Victor. I esp. love the one with the bird reflected in the water, like he was admiring his good looks in a looking glass.

It looks just like our juvenile Black-crowned Night Herons! Spooky.

You may be right, my books are confusing. I went by the word of a birder at the scene.

The spot on focus of your images is striking. That has got to be challenging considering the tight depth of field you’ve obtained.

Wonderful shots, Victor. I’ve seen Green Herons multiple times, but never a gawky youngster like this one. You captured some great expressions and poses.
