Play of Light (Three Photographs)

Besides the drama of being very close to such a large bird, I was lucky to get a play of light. Dappled light can be difficult to work with unless your subject is in just the right place. Out of doors working with animals, it’s pretty rare to get the lighting right when it’s blocked in part by foliage. In learning how full length portraits are lit you sometimes hear about creative light fall off; the face is well lit but the light falls off further down the body. Again nature was in my favor and that lighting effect is partially replicated in these photos.
Especially like the middle shot!

It is so nice when we get solar spotlights on the subject.
