Gosling (Two Photographs)

This was the first of the water bird chicks I saw this year. I also believe it’s the youngest I have seen, they grow up amazingly fast. Within a week or so they are ungainly youngsters and far less cute. The parents were in front of the gosling just out of frame. It is unusual to see a lone gosling; normally they are in large packs. I was on some rocks looking down and I would have preferred to be on the same level with the subject. Getting down to the level of your subject has a number of benefits including a more personalized view. Using a long lens I was not in a position to worry the parents, nonetheless they kept careful watch.
So adorable 😊.

So cute! Lovely photos too. I’m always impressed when people create such beautiful, sharp photos of wildlife. It’s something I often want to do lack the patience for most of the time.

Thanks. For me nature photography began with a walk in the woods, no patience needed😀
