As I said in an earlier post I acquired a new Fuji XT-2 in September and some people have asked me about it. This is not a formal review or an endorsement, these are my views. Let me say from the start that this is a mirror-less camera and there is some lag when you turn it off and want to turn it on again quickly or if it goes into sleep mode but it’s minor. Other than that the camera is very responsive. The elephant in the room for me was processing. I had heard about some problems. My question was would the results of processing in Lightroom and Photoshop and my plugins work with Fuji raw files to my satisfaction. Each of the photos here was processed as I would process a Nikon Raw file, though with less noise reduction. I used a neutral density filter in Lightroom on two of them. In each case the exposure was adjusted in Lightroom, smart sharpening in Photoshop, some tonal correction in Intensify CK and then a Photoshop levels adjustment was added in two files to improve contrast. I used Adobe’s version of the “Acros Film” simulation (the files were shot in Acros in camera). I do not believe that the foliage has suffered any worse than it would have with a Nikon file. I am not making direct comparisons of files, what I am saying though is that I am happy with the results. Looking at the photos at normal magnification for their size, I am satisfied with the results.
Excellenr work, my friend.

Nice comparison and processing! I recently added the X series to my DSLR family. I was a bit hesitant but wanted an option of having a quality camera w/raw capabilities when I didn’t feel like tugging around the DSLR. I am very pleased as well with the results. Fujifilm is a pretty decent camera body and lens manufacturer, they haven’t disappointed me yet. Thanks for sharing! 🙂

I love my mirrorless. I know some really amazing photographers that are strictly mirrorless now. But then you have to buy all the lenses. OY!

The images have a lovely to them. I really like the film renderings in Lightroom. I should also own up and say I have ordered an XT2 – now just have to wait for stock to become available.

I’m holding off FTB but love my X T1. I process the Fuji files in Iridient Developer initially then bring back into LR for fine tuning. There is much better detail extraction than in LR. I didn’t want to buy another RAW processor but had to accept the evidence. Fuji have great lenses, which is why I moved over. Unfortunately I’m on LR5 and they don’t update ACR anymore – they leave you high and dry. But an upgrade or you can’t use new file formats. That’s why I don’t like Adobe and wanted alternatives.

Interesting.. I am on the adobe cloud program so I get too many updates. I like lightroom as a catalogue, so a second editor poses issues. I still us my Nikon and would prefer one system for processing. But if I must irridient is the way to go.

That’s my challenge. I also like LR as a catalogue. I may eventually have to bite the bullet but I don’t like being forced by big business.

Nice results and a useful article for me. A system more compact than my DSLR is fast becoming a must have.

Some the lenses, like the 90 are weighty, best to try first. I went with primes for size and weight, as much as quality.
